For this module. My cohort year has to promote, brand and plan an event for our Digital Media courses. For my section of this project, I have chosen to work with one of my peers in creating the TransMedia 2015 website. I chose to work on this because it means I can further develop my coding skills in HTML and CSS in addition to being involved with the overall branding of the event. We began by designing a basic web layout then took it to our cohort.
Our cohort gave us feedback telling us it was too corporate and as well as saying it lacked a brand identity. We then took our project into a different direction and began to develop a very different brand for the website. We began to design more fun and colourful features that would make the site more interesting to navigate and interact with. Between the two of us, we decided that I would be best to design these characters and my peer would focus on the coding aspect of the website.
What we came up with was designing small little monsters that would occupy the space around the website. Each would be a different colour than each other so that the whole site would be colourful without looking childish. The monsters would be designed as just colours without any outlines so that they can keep inline with the flat design of the website. These would also work as branding icons as we could put then throughout our event on the Yearbook, the posters, show reel and emails. Doing this would allow an identity for the whole event to emerge instead of keeping it to one piece of media.
